The Western Front, Christmas Eve, 1914. Out of the violence
of the Great War's trenches comes a silence, then a song as a young
German soldier steps into no man's land singing Stille Nacht. Thus
begins an extraordinary night of camaraderie, music, and peace.
Cantus and Theater Latté Da present the world premiere of
All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 by Peter Rothstein, with
musical arrangements by Erick Lichte and Timothy C. Takach. Through
new arrangements of European carols and war-songs, All Is Calm recalls
the remarkable World War I truce between Allied Forces and German
soldiers in no man's land on Christmas, 1914.

Cantus and the St. Olaf Choir join forces for the choral event of the
season. Three years ago this sold-out event brought two of the finest
a cappella ensembles in the country together for a celebration of the
human voice raised in song. This year's event will feature diverse
repertoire from each ensemble, as well as collaborative pieces including
a new work by Twin Cities composer Edie Hill. The stunning acoustics
of St. Olaf Catholic Church in Minneapolis and St. Andrew's Lutheran
Church in Mahtomedi will provide the perfect setting for these world-class
choirs. Choral fans, have no fear - "Beautiful Savior" will be sung. |

White Stripes, Nick Drake and The Beach Boys to tell the story of one
couple's journey through make-ups and break-ups. The concert will feature
brand-spanking-new arrangements created by Cantus, collaborative musicians
Lee Blaske and Dave Hagedorn, and charming and bizarre
instruments played by the singers themselves. Come rock out with Cantus! |
